Below are some general questions and answers about our products and about us:

1. Product care

How do I wash the textiles?

They are all washable in 40 to 60 degrees Celsius (warm) in the washing machine.

How do I get rid of stains?

We like to use a bile soap. It is perfect to use on stains.

If you don´t own a bile soap it works well with an ordinary soap or dish soap.  Soak the textile in water and work on it for a minute with the soap. Leave it for 10 minutes and then wash it in the washing machine.

The earlier you do it, the better. I dried stain is harder to get rid of.

Do the textiles shrink?

Yes, they do.

HildaHilda textiles shrink by approximately 5-8% in the first wash.

At the same time the colours become even more vibrant as the threads fall into place.

Can I iron the textiles?

Yes you can.

It is possible to use a hot iron on all our textile products except the ones covered with a coating.

On the products covered with a coating of acrylic, you iron from the inside with a medium hot iron.

We normally do not iron very much. We just say it is nothing wrong with a crumpled tablecloth.

Can I wash the trays in the dish washer?

Yes, you can, but it will have a longer life if you wash them by hand.

2. Where do the products come from?

The textiles

We weave our fabrics at a GOTS-certified weaving mill in Västergötland, Ekelunds. See more:

They are woven with organic yarns, all of which are GOTS-certified. See more:

The yarns are purchased from a company in Germany called TVU. It is also GOTS-certified. See more in German:

The cotton and linen may grow in different countries. The cotton comes from plantations in many places around the world. The linen comes from plantations in Belgium and France. No fertilizers, no pesticides and no genetic modifications are used. Employees at all levels have regulated salaries, correct employment conditions, occupational health care and the right to organize.

Some textiles are coated with a layer of acrylic. Why?

We do tha coating to make the material more robust and less sensitive to dirt and dampness, like oil cloth. We let the company Sju Häradsbygdens färgeri i Kinnahult do the coating.  More about the company here: The fabric is coated with a water soluable acrylic.

Where do you manufacture the textile products?

We make our textile products in our atelier in Kivik in the very south of Sweden; in the shop in Stockholm and in Waldemarsvik on the east coast in Sweden.

Our handbags and computer cases are made at Ideal lädervarufabrik in Småland. See more about Ideal Lädervarufabrik in Swedish here:

Where are the trays, coasters and pot mats made?

They are all made in Småland, in the southern part of Sweden, by a company called Årytrays. Read more about the trays here:

The birch wood used in the production of this tray comes from renewable forest (FSC).

Where are paper napkins made?

They are made in Svenska Servettfabriken on Lidingö, an island just outside Stockholm. They have Nordic Swan Ecolabel:        Read more about the napkins in Swedish here:

Where do the inner cushions come from?

The inner pillows are made in Denmark and are made of a waterproof 100% cotton fabric which is made without chemicals. The filling is feathers and down from ducks. The production meets EU animal welfare requirements and the pillows are Oeko-Tex certified. See more in Danish here:

HildaHilda must always be contacted prior to returning faulty or damaged products to decide whether the article/s in question should be returned or not. You will of course be reimbursed at once.

We kindly ask our customers to check the box or package upon delivery. Should the package be damaged make sure to take a picture of the package before opening it. This is important when filing a complaint with the shipping agent. Also take a picture of the damaged article and e-mail the pictures to us at info@hildahilda.se.

Is it possible to return fabric bought by the meter or custom-made items?

If you order fabric by meter, or we custom make items for you, you cannot cancel your order and you must keep it. But, if the order is faulty, of course you can return the article and the costs will be at our expense. Before that contact us at info@hildahilda.se.
